At Fortis Academy we deliver our curriculum through Faculties. 

Through the creation of faculties, we can collaborate to create an enriching curriculum which enables our students to excel. Each faculty has an associate assistant head teacher as its lead ensuring that the vision and ethos of Fortis Academy is shared and embedded within every aspect of each subject within that faculty.

The Calculation Faculty is committed to enriching students’ lives by ensuring we build up their numerical and statistical skills to handle any problem they may face in the wider world. We want to help students build resilience in their character through problem-solving activities. Most of all, we want to ensure that students leave Fortis with the aspirations to change the world by moving on to the next stage of their educational journey.

The Communication Faculty at Fortis Academy believe that communication is far more than a means of sharing and receiving information – it is a skill that lies at the heart of all human interaction, one that is sought after in all fields of life. We strive to enrich the lives of our students by raising aspirations and opening doors, challenging them to consider alternative viewpoints, developing empathy and understanding. Pupils are encouraged to step beyond the familiar as their learning takes them: back in time through the study of Shakespeare, across the continent whilst learning a language, and into the world of media that surrounds us all. At Fortis Academy, students develop as independent, resilient and thoughtful learners, but more importantly as life-long learners that possess the self-belief and skills required to fulfil their potential.

We believe that the humanities and social sciences play a key part in a broad and balanced school curriculum. Our subjects play a crucial role in supporting our students to explore the meaning and purpose of their lives. As we develop their character pupils build upon their sense of identity and self-worth as they become resilient learners and develop the values that will help them become active, inclusive and thoughtful citizens of the world. Students will learn to empathise with people who are similar and different to them broadening their horizons and supporting them to aspire to create a better future for their generation and future generations.

Through the Imagination faculty we aim to provide practical opportunities for students to be creative and express themselves in a way that allows them to grow as an individual. Enriching lives is at the forefront of our faculty and is underpinned by the ability to offer an extensive extra-curricular timetable which in turn helps build pupils confidence and skills sets to become lifelong learners within each subject. We encourage pupils to express themselves in a way that allows them to feel safe and comfortable creating a foundation for life.
